What it is

LegalToPlain takes a contract you're about to sign — a lease, an NDA, an employment offer — and turns it into a plain-English breakdown. Upload a PDF, DOCX, or image and get a summary, a side-by-side clause translation, a list of red flags, and a chat to ask follow-up questions about anything in the document.

Who it's for

Someone handed a lease, a severance agreement, an NDA, or a job offer who wants to understand what they're actually agreeing to before they sign it. It's not a replacement for a lawyer, and it says so on every page.

Why I built it

Contracts are written to be hard to read, and most people sign them without understanding half of what's in them. Pasting a contract into a general chatbot gets you an answer with no structure and no way to check it against the original wording. I wanted something purpose-built instead: a document broken into clauses, translated one at a time, with every explanation linked back to the exact original text so you can verify it yourself.

How it works

You drop in a document — PDF, DOCX, or image, up to 25MB — and see a quote before paying anything. A single analysis is $10; a $25/month plan covers five documents for anyone who needs this more than once. Every plain-English explanation cites the original clause, so you can hover over it and check it against what the document actually says. Your file is auto-deleted after 24 hours unless you choose to save it, and it's never used to train models or shared with anyone else.

What's next

The product is live and covers a broad set of document types today — leases, NDAs, offer letters, severance agreements, and a dozen others. Growing that library of covered document types is the ongoing work.
