What it is

The Filing Cabinet ingests data from roughly 31 government and financial sources — SEC EDGAR, FRED, USASpending, EPA, CPSC, and others — and posts a daily feed of market-moving signals on X. The pipeline behind it scores everything it ingests for newsworthiness and writes the day's posts automatically, with no one drafting them by hand each morning.

Who it's for

People who want a fast read on notable SEC filings, government data releases, and regulatory activity without digging through the underlying sources themselves. Today that means following the X account — the site itself is a holding page, and the email edition no longer exists.

Why I built it

Market-moving information is scattered across dozens of separate government and financial data feeds that almost nobody reads end to end. I built a pipeline that ingests all of them, scores what actually matters, and turns it into a short daily read — first as a set of email newsletters, now as a daily automated post.

How it works

A Python pipeline pulls from SEC EDGAR, FRED, USASpending, and around two dozen other sources every day, matches items to the companies they concern, and scores them for newsworthiness. Claude writes the editorial content — subjects, ledes, and summaries — from the scored data, and the result posts automatically to X each morning without manual review. The site at thefilingcabinet.news is now a static holding page; it used to host a full newsletter archive and subscription flow, which ended when the email side wound down in July 2026.

What's next

The daily X feed is the whole product now. There's no active plan to bring the email newsletter back — the open question is whether this becomes something else or stays as it is.
