What it is

ProfileSmith is a free tool that scores your LinkedIn profile against a published rubric. Export your profile as a PDF, drop it in, and get a score out of 100 with specifics on what's weak. If you want it fixed, a one-time $29 purchase gets you an AI-written rewrite of your summary and experience sections, emailed to you.

Who it's for

Anyone updating their LinkedIn profile before a job search — someone who knows their profile isn't landing interviews but can't tell why. It's built for individuals rewriting their own profile, not recruiters or agencies working on someone else's behalf.

Why I built it

Most LinkedIn advice is vague — "be authentic," "tell your story" — with nothing concrete to measure against. I wanted a tool that scores a profile against a specific, published rubric instead of handing out generic tips, and that does it without ever touching your actual LinkedIn account.

How it works

You export your LinkedIn profile as a PDF (LinkedIn has a built-in "Save to PDF" option) and drop it into the browser. The file is parsed entirely client-side — it never uploads to a server — and scored against the rubric published at /rubric. If you buy the rewrite, Claude generates new copy for your summary and experience sections, which is emailed to you along with your receipt. There's no login and no database; a completed purchase is the only proof you need. ProfileSmith does not scrape LinkedIn, does not connect to your LinkedIn account, and never asks for your LinkedIn login — that's a permanent rule of the product, not a launch-stage limitation.

What's next

The free scan currently only works from a PDF export, which shuts out anyone on mobile or without an English-language export. Adding a paste-your-text fallback is the next piece.
