What it is

Shelfpane is a browser extension that adds an organizing layer on top of Claude.ai: folders, pinned chats, search, a prompt library, and one-click export — none of which the interface itself gives you.

Who it's for

Someone who uses Claude.ai heavily enough that their chat list has become a wall of hundreds of untitled conversations — a writer, researcher, consultant, or developer who lives in the browser app rather than the API and can't find the chat where Claude explained something three weeks ago.

Why I built it

Claude.ai gives you a flat list of chats and a basic title search. There's no way to group conversations by client or project, no full-text search across old chats, no way to get your work out except one chat at a time, and no place to keep the prompts you retype every day. I ran into this myself and started building the fix.

How it works

Everything the extension stores — folders, pins, and your prompt library — stays in your own browser's storage; none of it is uploaded to a server of ours. The only thing that ever leaves your machine is a license key check against Polar when you buy Pro. Free tier: folders, pinned chats, title search, and single-chat export to Markdown — enough to be genuinely useful on its own. Pro ($19 one-time, 5 browsers): unlimited folders, full-text search across every conversation, bulk export, the prompt library with slash-insert, and color tags. It isn't affiliated with Anthropic.

What's next

It's still being built — the site and the extension exist, but it hasn't been put in front of real users yet. The next step is finishing the build and getting it there.
