What it is

Dynopane is a DynamoDB client that lives in the VS Code, Cursor, or Windsurf sidebar: browse tables and indexes, run queries and scans, and read items for free. Pro adds editing items, a PartiQL query editor, and export. It replaces alt-tabbing to the AWS console or paying for a separate desktop GUI.

Who it's for

A developer on AWS who touches DynamoDB regularly and already lives in VS Code or Cursor, and is tired of clicking through the AWS console's table browser to check a row.

Why I built it

The one dedicated DynamoDB extension on the VS Code Marketplace hadn't been touched since 2017, and AWS's own Toolkit extension doesn't cover DynamoDB at all. The desktop GUIs that do exist charge a monthly subscription for something that should live where the code already is. That gap — abandoned-and-free versus separate-app-and-paid — is what I built into.

How it works

Dynopane connects with your own AWS credentials or profile; it talks to AWS directly, not through a server of ours. Free: connect a profile, browse tables and indexes, scan and query, view items. Pro ($29 one-time, 5 activations): edit, insert, and delete items, a PartiQL editor, CSV/JSON export, saved queries, and multi-profile/multi-region support, unlocked with a Polar license key backed by a 14-day trial and a 14-day refund window. There's no server, no database, and no telemetry on our end — it's a static site plus a local extension.

What's next

It just shipped. The next step is getting it in front of real AWS developers and seeing which workflows they actually want built out next.
